Why On Hand is different

One trusted local person. Help with what matters most.

On Hand is not simply a cleaner or handyman, and it is not a care agency. It is a flexible practical support relationship with Matt—one trusted local person who gets to know you, your home and what matters to you.

The purpose of a regular visit can change from week to week. You do not need to arrange separate cleaners, handymen, gardeners or technology support for every small job, and you are not locked into the same list of tasks each time.

Matt Hallows, owner of On Hand

About Matt

Local, experienced and easy to talk to.

I’m Matt Hallows, the person behind On Hand. I bring 21 years of local-authority experience, including more than 12 years in frontline adult social care and 3 years in strategic systems and technology work, including the use of AI systems.

Alongside that experience, I have strong practical and DIY skills and enjoy finding straightforward solutions to everyday jobs around the home.

This combination of people experience, digital knowledge and practical ability is what makes On Hand different. It shapes how I communicate, notice potential risks and treat each person with dignity.

On Hand is flexible practical support—not a care agency, cleaning company or specialist trade service—so you always know exactly what I can and cannot help with.

DBS checked and fully insured.

“One trusted local person. Help with what matters most.”

Clear and safe

Practical support, with clear boundaries.

On Hand does not provide personal or intimate care, meal preparation or feeding support, medication administration, clinical services, financial management or specialist regulated trade work.

I will only undertake work that is safe, within my competence and covered by the business’s agreed insurance.

Where something needs a registered care provider or qualified trade, I will say so clearly and can help you organise the next step.
